Molochon

"Over the Deadlands, bleached bone white,
Presides the undead child of night,
A shadow of the Twilight War,
A god that should have been no more."

In life, Molochon was a dragon of immense size and great evil, offspring of the night goddess, Nyx. Slain during the Twilight War, his corpse was discovered by czath some three centuries ago, preserved in the bogs of Slank. The Spiral spent nearly a year exhuming the great corpse - never before had such a powerful creature been discovered intact. With their dark magic, the Spiral priests restored the dead dragon's consciousness, and bound his soul to the decayed hulk, much as they had done with Strythus. Twisted by hatred and insanity, the undead beast succumbed quickly to the will of the Eater, and became one of its most powerful servants on Rym.

Molochon is quite insane, though he sports a certain cunning the belies his beast-like demeanor. Physically, the dragon is a mass of sagging meat and thick black oil. This dark sludge is the animating power that holds the corpse together, gives it conscience, and motion. It is Molochon's weapon, a foul corruptive poison that can infect any who touch it with the concentrated effects of the Wasting. Even the ground upon which the undead beast walks withers and warps, and Molochon is able to expel this sludge through his mouth much as a normal dragon would breathe fire. This life-draining ooze quickly liquifies flesh and takes control of the dying victim's muscles, animating their bodies with the same dark essence that controls Molochon himself. These dying puppets are quickly consumed by the black sludge, trapping their souls within its miring substance and dissolving them as sustenance over a period of many days. This insideous conversion process is how Molochon 'eats'.

Molochon relies heavily on his advocates, but defends the Deadlands on his own, as he would a lair. He keeps no hoard, tough certain powerful Spiral artifacts are frequently entrusted to his care. Like many dragons, he retains a certain laziness even in undeath, and would rather have his food brought to him than fly out and get it himself. The widening corruptive radius of the collector has made it a greater and greater chore to find food, and the czath are often compelled to fetch food or become food themselves. He is especially fond of Believers, unicorns, sprites, and all manner of beings whose life-force is especially radiant or beautiful. Unlike many of the more mindless or indifferent servants of the Spiral, the undead beast often delights in cruelty and the suffering of lesser things.

Molochon is nearly two hundred feet long, and his great bulk makes him slow. Each movement is accomanied by a nauseating cacophany of wet snaps and pops, and while his form appears quite rotted, not even bacteria can survive in the aura of death he exudes. This has placed his decay ina state of stasis, as it were, and only general wear and tear has reduced his dead mass significantly. The undead dragon is still capable of slow, lumbering flight, and it still employs the natural weapons of any dragon, such as claws, teeth, and tail. The presence of this decayed juggernaut on the battlefield greatly bolsters the aggressiveness of his undead troops, though he is generally too lazy and sluggish to enter combat himself, despite his formidable weaponry.
