One useful thing to do is to make your changes in a temporary page. You can do this by going to the page User:MyUserName/Proposed_edits_of_Pagename and creating a copy of the page with your edits for people to look at. This can be pointed to from the forums, or the discussion page. Note: You must have created your User:MyUserName page first before you can do this.
