Not sure I'm wordin this correctly cuz I'm no techie by trade, only by necessity. So here goes; As you build this are you pushing for advances in gameplay monitoring tech upgrades? I ask because it is a lack of access to these that has made most advancements in the game kinda grind to a halt. One of the most popular spots that use to exist in the game is long gone simply because there was no way to continually police the place when the owners or their minions could not. Violations occurred and continued to occur until finally it was shut down. An ability for violations of TAPs policies to be flagged for addressing would go a long way for many builders to push harder for the ability to build into the game more. I know I haven't simply for that very reason. None of us want the major headache of playing 'chase the perps'. Just saying. Thanks in advance for the reply and good luck with the project. Nice to see any advancement rather than continual stagnation. ;-)
Well, the policies have been changed to allow zone admins to set up listening rooms for their zones which they can idle in to capture logs. That has had an effect on at least one zone. Similarly, the wizards are much more active now than they used to be, and we're really quite good at using regex tools to pull out relevant information from the system logs.
The best thing we can do, however, is encourage people to report things right when they happen. Often times people will put their head down and just take whatever nonsense is being blown their way, because that's sort of what the culture has been for a while. If people report things right when they happen, and you escalate via the "request" system, then I can pull the system logs and tell you exactly what did and did not happen within just a few minutes. No chasing involved. Just, you know. Spanking. :3
So, yes. Emphasize to your playerbase that if they have an issue with another player, they need to bring it to you as the ZA, to us as the wizards, or both. Then set up a monitoring room on the public rooms in your zone and try to keep a character in there to maintain your own zone logfiles so you can consult them. For those incidents which happen in public, you can handle them in-house. Otherwise, put in a request and I'll help you in any way I can.
Administration is easiest when ZAs and wizards have a good, solid working relationship. I realize that's been a bit lacking in the past, but when I was able to cultivate such a working rapport with White, it helped my own ZA work a lot, so I think it's really seriously mega important, and I will do everything I can to help you do your job effectively.
Sounds great. Would add this to the mix for your thinkin pleasure. Quietly serving the public, the members of Helpstaff are one of your most valued, and valuable, aspects. In that vein, and also knowing that Wizards are few and not always on when needed right away sometimes... plus it isn't like you wizzes don't have a boat load of stuff piled up on your 'honey do' list anyways... so what would you think of either expanding helpstaff's power minutely by allowing them to 'referee' disputes and issues, solving some before they cross your desk and even vetting some complaints so that you're not getting spamed? If not that, then perhaps creating a new form of 'helpstaffers'... something like roving 'arbitrators' that can do such things? I get it that wizards should have a final say in things but I also know you receive 'complaints' that really aren't 'worthy'. Kinda like having your top murder detectives handing out parking tickets. Better and smoother would it be if someone else handled 'parking tickets' and let the top cops (wizzes) handle major cases. Would free up time for you guys and also give the players access to quicker issue solving without bothering you guys with the 'small stuff'. I'm sure there'd be more 'rules and stipulations' as to what an arbitrator could/should handle and what they should pass upstairs to the bosses, but I think you get the gist of the idea.
