[Replace everything including and after "What to do if you are being harassed?"]

Any attack on one's race, religion, gender, sexual identity, sexual preferences, neurodiversity, or other immutable aspects of one's self should be immediately be reported by submitting a request (request #help).

If you believe you're being harassed in some other way, you may still submit a request to the wizards for assistance.

If you never want to interact with the harassing user again, on any character, submit a request asking for an official No Contact Order (NCO).

If someone violates an official NCO, do NOT respond to them. Contact a wizard instead. Violating an NCO is a very serious policy violation.

Recommendations
If you don't feel comfortable escalating immediately to an official report, there are steps you may take for resolution.

These are merely recommendations; at any point, you may choose either escalate to a formal complaint, or de-escalate and talk over the issue with the other party.

  1. First, remove yourself from the situation. Make some space and take a moment to calm down. What felt like an attack may have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication. Try to look at the exchange from a more detached point of view once it no longer feels so immediate and distressing.
  2. If, after taking a moment to examine the situation, the interaction seems (or blatantly is) harassment you may either:
    1. Tell the person, clearly, that you do not want to be treated that way. Make it clear that you're speaking out-of-character.
    2. If you do not feel safe speaking to the person, break contact (see next list item) or submit a request.
  3. You may break contact by performing any or all of the following steps (replace [name] with the character name):
    1. Filter their pages: page #ignore [name]
    2. Filter their whispers: whisper #ignore [name]
    3. Hide from them on 'wf': wf #hidefrom [name]
    4. Hide from them on 'wft': wft #hidefrom [name]
    5. Use your client to obscure any public output coming from the offending individual (says, poses, etc.). This varies by client, but a simple regular expression that can be used as the basis of a trigger is ^[name].*
