Namespace titles in category pages

I am considering the use of another namespace for different reasons than policy, but... I have one problem with it so far. If I insert something from, say, Location: into a category Category:Locations, I can control it's sorting by specifying a sort string, but I can't figure out how to control the display of the 'Location:' on each entry. Is it possible to suppress that? --WhiteWizard 20:01, 2 April 2007 (PDT)

This question was previously raised (and not answered correctly there). One solution that could apply here but not elsewhere is modifying the code to add a new magic word. I asked a member of Wikia to give a more general solution and he suggested a combination of onload JavaScript and a div tag used as a marker, as demonstrated on Template:catnoprefix and User:GreenKai/monobook.js (should theoretically be in common.js as it appplies to all skins).
This works great for WikiFur's published news category. Unfortunately it doesn't work here because you're on an old version of MediaWiki which doesn't enclose that area in a particular class. The 1.6 series is missing quite a few new features from later versions which are not essential, but which are nice to have. You could probably find the relevant code and add it in, or upgrade the whole site. The javascript would go into MediaWiki:Common.js. GreenKai 23:48, 3 April 2007 (PDT)
