A short piece for a rendering I need to redo


Professor Jonah walked down the path, following the strange noise.. What he saw
made him stop and almost drop his notepad - By the pond's edge, a snake had a
frog in it's mouth. Hind legs sticking out on either side of the wide snout the
frog was on it's back wriggling, and croaking and shuddering. The snake was
simply holding it's prey down and seemed in no hurry to swallow the amphibian..
In fact it almost seemed to be enjoying itself!

As he squatted, the frog gave one last shudder and lay still, except for it's
chest which heaved, trying to get air into the little lungs.. The snake
'yawned' pushing the frog out, sliding it's forked tongue along the junction of
the frog's legs, making the creature gasp, eyes vanishing into it's head as it
shudders and croaks, then lays still again. The snake hisses softly, very much
like laughter and as it slithers off, Jonah could Swear it winked at him! As he
stands, the frog rolls over and crawls off to the water, disappearing from
sight.

The man stands, and looks down at his - still blank - notepad, and decides Not
to report what he saw.. or Thought he saw... With a shake of his head the
scientist returns to his camp, checking for a fever or other signs of illness.
