Character Concepts

Describing Your Character

This is a very important aspect of online roleplay. The appearance of your character can, in some cases, effect the initial reactions of other characters to your own in an IC sense. While it need not be large, there are several key points that should be addressed in any character description.

  1. Size of your character in terms of height and build.
  2. Physical traits, such as hair/fur/scale/eye color.
  3. Clothing and accessories worn, if applicable

So long as you hit well on those points, you'll be off to a good start. Starting small is fine, you can always go back and revise to make it better.

Long descriptions--more than about 25 lines--can also be a nuisance. While the ancient technical reasons for 25 lines are of little importance, it is a managable size for the reader. Against that is the question of what you can assume the reader knows. Most people can summon up an image of an anthropomorphic lion or rabbit. The less commonplace the character concept, the more space you will need.
