P-26a Peashooter
Called the Peashooter, not because if it's light armerment, but because it used a tube gunsight. But it seems to be a FAIL because even tho it was present in several war zones, it may be the only fighter that never fired a shot in anger. FAIL! Click here for larger image

F-85 Goblin
Altho pilots loved it's speed, manuverability and fire power, it was doomed to FAIL. You see it was an attempt to give B-29s and B-36s fighter cover all the way to the target but at the cost of a bomb load. By the time the prototype was built, existing fighters had the range to reach the targets. Click here for larger image

Rotabuggy
This one pegs my Weardo meter to the red! the idea was to give paratroops a jeep for german battlefields. The problem was it was an insaine idea! Turn a jeep into a autogyro and tow it to the front. The idea died when the British couldn't find anybody crazy enough to fly it! FAIL! Click here for larger image

Arado 234
Designed as a bomber, the Arado was used only once as a bomber with VERY mixed results. If it had been left as a fighter as it was orignally designed, it could have turned the tide of the war. FAIL! Click here for larger image

CSS Hunley
I struggled on this for a while. The Hunley was the first successful attack submarine ever, but I can't really count it as anything but a FAIL because while she did manage to sink a warship, she also killed herself in the process. Click here for larger image

USS Turtle
Largely considered the first attack submarine ever, she never-the-less must be considered a FAIL because while she did manage to launch an attack on the HMS Eagle, a massive design flaw made her fail. Click here for larger image
